Hyper Pigmentation & Age Spots

Freckles, sun spots or uneven skin tone occur when exposure to the sun stimulates our melanocytes to produce pigment (melanin)

This provides the skin’s natural defence mechanism, and absorbs harmful UV radiation. Sun protection is paramount in preventing worsening or new pigmentation, so you should ALWAYS wear SPF 30+. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can also develop following injury to the skin by way of infection, burn or acne breakout.

If the damage is only superficial, melanin deposition is limited to the epidermis, and can be treated with active ingredients such as vitamin C, retinol, niacinamide, and tyrosinase inhibitors (arbutin, kojic acid). Using these, we can prescribe home care and in clinic treatments to suit your skin.

We offer 3 approaches, depending on the type and extent of pigmentation
