Skin Health Consultation

Your skin represents you.
It can take some abuse, but if you don’t offer it care, it will eventually get pretty tired and fed up.

Perhaps you’re an outdoorsy type, or have a devastatingly sweet tooth, if you struggle with hormonal variations, or enjoyed a misspent youth, you may well struggle with your skin. Maybe you have always invested, but what you’ve done in the past no longer seems to suit?

Caring for your skin is a simple treat that can make you look and feel brighter. It goes without saying that physical appearance impacts on our emotional and mental wellbeing. So, let us help you navigate the world of skincare, and understand what ingredients your skin needs to stay healthy.

FAQs

What does our skin do?

Our skin is so important! The outer layer (epidermis) is waterproof, protecting us from the elements: from infection, mechanical and thermal injury, as well as reducing the harmful effects of UV radiation. The dermis beneath provides the strength and elasticity; with receptors to detect pressure, pain and heat; and blood vessels, hair follicles, sweat and sebaceous glands to regulate our temperature.

What changes can occur with age?

As we age, our skin – the most visible indicator of age – undergoes changes, both naturally (intrinsic) and due to environmental exposure such as UV radiation (extrinsic). The epidermis thins, and our cells become less efficient, producing less collagen, less elastin and less hyaluronic acid. The result is tired looking, dry skin, with laxity, fine lines and wrinkles.

Does the menopause affect our skin?

Unfortunately, skin changes develop sooner in women than in men due to the decreased protective effects of oestrogen during the menopause. Skin becomes lax, wrinkles develop, and it becomes noticeably more dry and sometimes itchy, with a reduction in both sebaceous secretions and ceramide production.

What does a skin consultation involve?

Your 30 minute consultation gives us a chance to help you to understand your skin. To appreciate how it behaves, what bothers you most, and importantly – find you a routine that suits your lifestyle, and your budget. We can suggest active ingredients that will help, and in-clinic treatments that can work alongside.

What is pHformula?

pHformula is the first pharma-cosmeceutical brand offering controlled delivery of active ingredients to the skin. The home-care products are targeted to treat a number of conditions such as acne, ageing skin, hyperpigmentation, and chronic redness. They prepare, optimise and maintain the results of the in-clinic skin resurfacing treatments, and can be tailored specifically to your needs

What’s the difference between chemical peels and skin resurfacing?

Conventional peels strip the outer layer off the skin, and are classified according to their depth of penetration. By contrast, pHformula’s unique delivery complex allows for maximum strength formulations to be delivered to the different skin layers, whilst preserving integrity of the epidermis. This results in accelerated cell turnover and optimum skin regeneration, whilst reducing trauma and superficial irritation.

Is pHformula ‘clean’?

pHformula’s brand focus is smiply about delivering high quality active ingredients in a scientifically proven manner. No unnecessary packaging. Nor fragrance. Nor gimmicks. Products have:

  • no added colour

  • no lanolin or mineral oil

  • are non comedogenic

  • paraben free preservative system
